1. The Chronological Donald: Volume I (1934-1941)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Arguably the greatest cartoon character of all-time, The Chronological Donald offers a strong introduction to the irascible Duck. Not all the shorts hit home, but many of them provide very good entertainment and a lot of creativity. Starring Donald Duck. Disney, $32.99, 5/18/2004.

2. The Chronological Donald: Volume II (1942-1946)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I regard Donald Duck as one of the all-time great cartoon characters, and we find many fine examples of his superiority in The Chronological Donald, Volume Two. This set includes 32 shorts that maintain a generally high standard of quality ... I remain disappointed by the lackluster presentation of the shorts, but there’s enough fun material here for it

3. The Chronological Donald: Volume III (1947-1950)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Now that we’re up to our third two-DVD set of Donald Duck cartoons, you might worry that the title character has run out of steam. Perhaps that’ll occur with V4, but Volume Three of The Chronological Donald presents plenty of fun shorts. Of course, some work better than others, but very few actual duds materialize here. The package provides pretty good p

4. The Chronological Donald: Volume IV (1951-1961)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Donald Duck’s run as the star of short cartoons ends in The Chronological Donald Volume 4. Happily, the quality of the Donald films remained strong from beginning to end, so V4 finishes the series on a good note. Fans will especially love the inclusion of unusual CinemaScope shorts. The DVD presents the usual fine picture quality along with more than acc

5. Starring Donald: Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites (Volume II) (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans should steer clear of this bland set. If you want some Donald, go for the vastly superior Chronological Donald. It’s more extensive and includes better shorts. Starring Donald will tempt some fans just to get the two cartoons not yet issued elsewhere. Be patient – they’ll come out eventually in The Chronological Donald, Volume Two, and I’m positive

6. Starring Chip 'N Dale: Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites (Volume IV) (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Chip an’ Dale have always been mid-level stars for Disney, and this collection of shorts reminds us why. Across the board, the cartoons are entertaining and fun, but they show that the pair needed a bigger star like Donald or Pluto to make their efforts succeed. Within those parameters, however, they give us quality cartoons. Starring Chip 'N Dale. Disne

7. Classic Caballeros Collection (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: By no stretch of the imagination is Saludos Amigos a classic piece of Disney animation, but it provides modest entertainment. Three Caballeros is a mildly entertaining program that has some high points but often drags and seems monotonous ... This is a good set for Disney fanatics to own – especially with a reasonable list price of less than $20 – but it

8. Extreme Adventure Fun: Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites (Volume VII) (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Die-hard Disney fans should skip this package. They’ll probably already own most of the shorts, and they’ll likely have the chance to get the others before long. However, if you don’t possess those other collections and just want a smattering of shorts, Adventure might work for you. Starring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald, Pluto. Disney, $14.99, 5/31/2005.

9. Walt Disney Treasures: On The Front Lines (1943)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: One of the most eagerly-awaited collections of Disney animation, Walt Disney On the Front Lines doesn’t disappoint. It contains hours of material that illuminates various efforts during World War II, and it’s a great set of rarely-seen pieces. Disney, $32.99, 5/18/2004.

10. Starring Mickey: Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites (Volume I) (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Whatever they call it, Starring Mickey does present a fair amount of fun. The cartoons come with good picture and more than adequate audio, though the disc lacks real extras. If you already own the Mickey “Walt Disney Treasures” sets, there’s absolutely no reason to get this one. If you don’t have those releases, however, and only want a little Disney en
